WORLD MAXIBASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2023
Record of registered teams in the first day of registrations!OCT/14/2022
Record of registered teams in the first day of registrations!
The biggest championship in the world has already opened the registration and during the first day, it reached a new historical record of more than 50 registered teams from all over the world. The 16th edition of the FIMBA World Maxibasketball Championship will be held in August and September 2023 in Mar del Plata city, Argentina.
Mar del Plata will be on the front pages of news. The World Maxibasketball Championship promises to become a big success. The 16th edition aspires to have 400 teams from 60 nations from all over the planet, both in female and male branches, and with athletes from 30 to more than 80 years old. FIMBA (International Maxibasketball Federation) and FFEMAR (Female Maxibasketball Federation of Argentina) in alliance with a sports event group of Mar del Plata, started working together and the first numbers indicate that the Championship will be a massive success.
Already on the first day of registration, more than 50 teams registered, which establishes a new historical record on a first day of registrations. A big know touristic city, a great organization (involved in the successful Pan American Championship in Paraná), and a professional local sports organization, joined to produce an unforgettable event.
“In 24 hours we gathered more than 50 teams, which is a huge record. Clearly, in a month, we will be reaching 100 teams, and that is a very exciting start. In addition, many issues come together, for example, the World Championship returns to the country, where the International Federation was created (FIMBA), after 32 years. To make a World Championship again in Argentina (the first was in 1991) it is like coming back home. And it is also the stamp that shows the ending of the Covid 19 pandemic. Although during 2022 we had the Pan American in Paraná and the European in Malaga, this is the international event that gathers all the countries of the World. It's like leaving behind that disastrous time of the Coronavirus and start celebrating all together again," said FIMBA's Director of Communications, Franco Zullich.
